Which Truck Is More Powerful?
The 2019 Tacoma comes equipped with a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine that generates 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. There is also an available 3.5L V6 with the Toyota Tacoma that will produce 265 lb-ft of torque.
The 2019 Ranger comes standard with a 2.3L EcoBoost® engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This power translates into the impressive towing and payload capabilities we highlight above.
The engine in the Ford Ranger is also matched with a 10-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, which will optimize that power and give you smooth, quick shifting. The Tacoma comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Cabin Configurations
Each truck has two separate cabins you can choose between. The Ford Ranger has the SuperCab, which has seating for a 4- and a 6-foot bed. There is also the spacious SuperCrew® that fives five passengers and comes with a 5-foot bed.
The Tacoma also has either a 5-foot or 6-foot bed and two separate cabin options. The Access Cab will let you fit four passengers, while the Double Cab can seat five.
