Ford F-150 XLT vs Lariat
If you’re considering the Ford F-150 as your next truck here in the Plainfield, Indianapolis, and Avon areas, then you’ll have plenty of trim levels to choose from. Two of the favorites are the XLT and the LARIAT. In this comparison, the Andy Mohr Ford team pits the Ford F-150 XLT vs. LARIAT trims to show you what sets them apart. Read on to discover which option suits you!
F-150 XLT vs LARIAT: Performance Specs
There are numerous engine options across the Ford F-150 lineup. However, when you jump from the XLT trim level to the LARIAT, you’ll have a different standard powertrain in each.
The Ford F-150 XLT comes with the 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 engine. As the base engine level, this produces quite a bit of power at 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. It also maintains an EPA-estimated 19 MPG city and 25 MPG highway.
That’s quite a bit of power, isn’t it? However, if you’re looking for an engine with more oomph, the standard F-150 LARIAT may be more appealing.
The LARIAT trim comes with a 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine. Though slightly smaller in size, it produces more power at 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. It also gets slightly better highway fuel economy with an EPA-estimated 26 MPG.

Interior: XLT vs LARIAT
It’s common practice for manufacturers to add in more interior amenities and features as trim levels ascend. So, naturally, the LARIAT cabin has a bit more to offer than the F-150 XLT.
For example, the Ford F-150 LARIAT comes with standard Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start to make getting into and firing up your car even easier. This feature isn’t standard fare in the XLT.
The LARIAT also takes the manually adjustable driver’s seat and upgrades it to a 10-way power-adjustable seat. This comes with a memory function, which will store your preferred configuration, as well as heating to keep you toasty on those chillier mornings.
Ultimately, if it’s amenities you’re looking for, you’ll want to turn to the LARIAT trim level.
F-150 XLT vs F-150 LARIAT: Safety
The Ford F-150 XLT trim was designed for optimal handling, no matter what road surfaces may look like. It comes with standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, as well as Curve Control. This can improve your cornering abilities, even when you’re carrying a heavy load or driving on slick roads.
The Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert is available in the XLT to provide you with an extra set of eyes on the road. This can make changing lanes even easier.
However, when you want even more available collision-prediction features, the LARIAT trim level has you covered. This trim offers options such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, which aren’t offered in the XLT trim.
Test Drive Your Preferred Ford F-150 Trim Level
While drivers in the Plainfield, Indianapolis, and Avon areas may pay more for the LARIAT trim level, they’re definitely getting what they pay for. Nevertheless, the XLT trim has plenty to offer as well.
