What is the Ford F-150 Lightning Capable of?

The first question most folks ask our staff when discussing the Ford F-150 Lightning usually revolves around capability and performance. How much can the truck tow? How much range does the battery allow for and how fast can it be recharged?

If we start with the available range, there are two options you can pick from: the standard range of 230 miles and the extended range version of 300 miles. These mileages are EPA estimates and will vary depending on driving habits and weather conditions.

With either setup, though, you can expect easy-going transportation around town. Understanding how much range you have left is simple too. Just rely on the touchscreen display or the digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel to keep you updated.

If you leave your truck charging in your driveway or your garage overnight, you can expect a full battery in the morning.

Furthermore, the performance of the Ford F-150 Lightning is both fast and capable. The extended range version touts 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. The  maximum towing capacity is expected to come in around 10,000 pounds when properly equipped, while the maximum payload capacity is expected to reach 2,000 pounds.
