What Is CPO?

You may have heard certified pre-owned as buzzwords, but you may not know what they actually mean—let us clarify the phrase for you. A certified pre-owned vehicle has to meet rigorous standards before being qualified as such.
Ford actually has two levels of CPO certification, which we’ll go over here:
- Blue Certified: This level of certification applies to all makes and models 10 model years and younger with fewer than 120,000 miles that pass a 139-point inspection.
- Gold Certified: This level of certification only applies to Ford models six model years or younger with 80,000 miles or less that have passed a 172-point inspection.
What Are the Perks of Buying CPO?

Okay, you may be thinking, CPO vehicles are just newer models without mechanical issues. And you’d be half right. There are also extra perks to buying a certified pre-owned vehicle. Both the Blue Certified and the Gold Certified levels offer 24/7 Roadside Assistance and a 14-day/1,000-mile Money Back Guarantee.
If you decide on a non-Ford model with Blue Certified, you’ll get a 90-Day/4,000-Mile Comprehensive Limited Warranty and 11,000 FordPass™ Rewards Points to put toward your vehicle’s first maintenance visit.
Have you decided on a Ford model with Gold Certified? You’ll get a 12-Month/12,000-Mile Comprehensive Limited Warranty as well as a 7-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. You’ll also get an additional 11,000 FordPass™ Rewards Points—a total of 22,000—to put toward your vehicle’s first two maintenance visits.
