Ranger Performance and Towing
The Ford Ranger uses a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 310 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower. The engine cycles power through a 10-speed automatic transmission that delivers rapid acceleration and plenty of thrust for towing or hauling.
Off-road, the Ranger can hold its own on rugged trails. With the off-road Tremor, FX2, and FX4 trims, you’ll have even more capability with features like off-road tires, skid plates, an off-road suspension, and a terrain management system. Suitably equipped, the Ranger is rated to tow up to 7,500 pounds. The Trailer Tow package is available to improve towing and includes a Class IV trailer hitch receiver and a four-pin/seven-pin wiring harness.
Interior and Cargo
The 2021 Ranger comes in a crew-cab SuperCrew model with a 5-foot bed or an extended SuperCab model with a 6-foot bed. The payload falls between 1,560 pounds and 1,860 pounds. The cabin has pockets and cubbies for small-item storage as well. For more utility, you can opt for the bed package for a drop-in bed liner and a built-in power outlet.
The SuperCab model can seat four people and the SuperCrew model can seat five people. Both rows of seats are supportive and comfortable for long-distance drivers. Passengers have ample headroom and legroom in both the front and rear, especially in the SuperCrew model. Several features are available for interior comfort and style, such as remote start, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Cloth seats are standard.
Truck Tech Features
The 2021 Ranger is available with a Sync 3 infotainment system that uses an 8-inch touch screen and a 4.2-inch display. This system is easy to use and features simple, straightforward menus and responsive touch-screen inputs. Navigation, a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, HD radio, satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration are optional, giving you endless entertainment options on the road.
Ford’s MyKey system is included, which allows you to set speed limits and sound volume limits for drivers in training. A forward-collision warning is also included, which warns you of potential frontal collisions. Optional features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a feature that notifies you if there’s a vehicle in your path while switching lanes or reversing, and front and rear parking sensors. Lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist are also available, which work together to keep you centered in your lane on the highway.
