Ford Focus vs Mazda3: Engine Specs & Performance

Ford Focus vs Mazda3: Engine Specs & PerformanceOne of the most important factors to consider when discussing performance is options, of which the Ford Focus has several. The Mazda3, on the other hand, is severely lacking in this department because it features one engine option across all of its trims.

The Ford Focus includes a base level 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine as its base selection, but it can be easily swapped out for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost® 4-cylinder, which can boast a whopping 252 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The Mazda3 can generate 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque with its 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. Additionally, the 2.3-liter EcoBoost® 4-cylinder, available with the 2018 Focus, produces 350 horsepower.

Audio Entertainment & Connectivity

The Focus and Mazda3 each include dashboard-mounted display screens that you can use to make your media selection. The Ford Focus SYNC® system includes voice recognition, which lets you select your music/podcasts, or even phone contacts through voice commands while you keep your hands on the wheel. The Mazda3 requires touch, with no voice recognition technology available at the base level.

As for the media options, each vehicle includes AM/FM radio, USB/auxiliary inputs for portable media players, and even Bluetooth® technology for hands-free phone calling and media streaming. Each vehicle offers an optional SiriusXM® Satellite Radio trial, however, the Focus trial is for six months while the Mazda3 trial only lasts for three months.
