2018 Ford Super Duty Review
If you’re thinking about adding a new heavy-duty pickup truck to the family but can’t seem to find one that has all the features you need and want, we at Andy Mohr Ford have good news for you! The 2018 Ford Super Duty has everything you’d want in a high-performance truck and much more.
In this review of the Super Duty, we’ll cover the powertrains you can choose from and the performance, entertainment features, and active safety systems. Let’s get started!
Power & Performance
Standard in the Ford Super Duty is a 6.2L Flex-Fuel V8 engine. This engine provides you with a best-in-class1 torque of 430 lb-ft, which delivers a whopping standard payload maximum of 7,630 lbs and 21,000-lb conventional tow maximum.
The Super Duty doesn’t stop there, though. Its second engine, which comes standard in many of its upper trim levels, is a 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8. Just when you think you can’t get any more power with this pickup, this engine swoops in delivering an incredible 450 horsepower and 935 lb-ft of torque.
With the available 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package, you can access even more tow capability. With the 5th wheel, you’ll be able to tow up to 27,500 lbs and an insane 34,000 lbs with the gooseneck.
In addition to the 2018 Ford Super Duty’s power, you’ll have plenty interior entertainment, starting with the SYNC® 3 infotainment system. This system, which is standard in most models and available in the rest of them, sports a large, high-definition touchscreen that’s as smart as it is pretty.
With features like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, you can safely access and utilize your smartphone even while you’re driving. You can also take advantage of the SYNC® 3’s navigation capabilities to get turn-by-turn directions to your new and favorite destinations.
Active Safety Systems
The SYNC® touchscreen can be utilized for more than just entertainment. Pairing it with the standard tailgate-mounted rearview camera will allow you to see behind you when you’re backing up. However, you can opt for any the many available safety features in the 2018 Ford Super Duty to unleash its seemingly endless safety capabilities.
The available Blind Spot Monitoring System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Tow automatically monitors your blind spots and warns you when vehicles are in them. Similar warnings come from the available Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support feature.
This latter feature monitors the vehicles in front of you when you’re using adaptive cruise control and will go as far as applying the brakes for you to prevent a collision.
