Fusion vs Camry: Power & Performance

The Ford Fusion is equipped with four diverse engine options, each providing a reliable performance. If you’re craving some extra muscle on the road, the available Sport trim delivers with a 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine—an exceptionally powerful engine for the midsize class. With this engine, you’ll soar on the roads with 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

The Toyota Camry also offers a V6 option, but this 3.5L engine only produces 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque—significantly less than the Fusion. Drivers looking for that tough, rugged ride may be disappointed by the available engine power in the Camry.

The Fusion, with its diverse powertrains, offers available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD), along with a few different sport options across various trims, too. You’ll feel secure with Intelligent AWD, as it amps up your handling in bad weather and provides ample traction on tough terrain.

The Camry doesn’t offer Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. While this vehicle may focus on other assistive features, drivers looking for power and secure handling will find that the Fusion provides more.

Ford vs Toyota: Infotainment

The Ford Fusion offers a wide range of amenities and interior options. SYNC® gives drivers enhanced voice recognition communication and an entertainment system standard, along with an AM/FM stereo with a CD player, MP3 capability, and four speakers.

Opt for the Titanium trim, and you’ll get available SYNC® 3. This advanced infotainment system supports navigation, audio, climate controls, and hands-free calling—blending safe entertainment into one crisp system. It also includes an audio system from Sony® with 12 speakers and HD Radio™. You’ll stay entertained and connected on every long road trip or commute to-and-from the office!

While the Camry does offer similar media technology, you’ll have to opt for the higher trims in order to be equipped with as many features. The available Entune™ suite features a 9-speaker sound system with an 8-inch touchscreen and includes a USB/AUX input along with SiriusXM®. These features are only available in the XLE V6 and XSE V6 trim levels, though, and are more readily available for drivers of the Fusion.

2018 Fusion vs 2018 Camry: Interior

The Ford Fusion seats five passengers comfortably, with a capacity of 102.8 cubic feet. Also, drivers can carry groceries, shopping bags, and luggage with the 16 cubic feet of cargo space. You’ll lose the spacious cargo room in the Camry, though, with only 14.1 cubic feet of space. The Camry also gives its five passengers a bit less room with its 100.4 cubic feet of interior volume.

Manual climate control, push button start, and a steering wheel with cruise and audio controls are included standard on the Ford Fusion. Plus, there’s also the Ford-exclusive MyKey®. With this feature, parents can monitor the habits of their teen drivers, as well as set limits on things like vehicle speeds and audio volume to give you peace of mind.

The Toyota Camry doesn’t offer drivers such features as standard. While it does offer the available HomeLink®--allowing you to open and close your garage door, among other home security features—there is no monitoring-like system available for families with young drivers.

Ford Fusion vs Toyota Camry: Verdict

The Toyota Camry is no doubt an impressive sedan. However, the Ford Fusion offers a vast array of powertrain options, among a longer list of driver assistive features.
