Ford Explorer: Powerful Engine Options

The Ford Explorer offers three different engine options for you to choose from, so you can get the power you need. The standard offering is a 3.5L V6 that makes 290 horsepower. Next in the lineup is a 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine that offers 280 horsepower and higher fuel efficiency. Top trim levels are equipped with a 3.5L twin turbocharged EcoBoost® V6, which produces a whopping 365 horsepower. All three engines come paired with a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, or you can opt for 4-wheel drive for great capability, and ride quality is extremely smooth and comfortable, especially on highways. Sport and Platinum trim levels come with the Ford Terrain Management System™, which offers four selectable driving modes: Normal, Mud/Ruts, Sand, and Grass/Gravel/Snow.

2018 Explorer Interior Design 

Inside all the Ford Explorer trims, there's seating for seven on standard cloth upholstery. The driver's seat is 8-way power adjustable, and you'll get bench seats in the second and third rows. For more second row comfort, swap the bench seat for captain's chairs, and you'll reduce total seating capacity to six. For extra luxury, add options such as genuine leather upholstery, 10-way power adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, heated second row seats, and power-folding third row seats.

Modern Technology Features

Slide further into the interior of the 2018 Explorer, and you'll find a 4.2-inch display screen, which you can control using voice commands. Bluetooth® connectivity gives you easy access to your phone's music, audiobooks, and contacts, as well as the ability to make hands-free phone calls. You can also keep your phone charged up with the standard USB port. You'll have an easy time reversing the SUV with the standard rearview camera, and you'll also get the Ford MyKey® technology, which allows you to set audio and speed limits for other drivers of the vehicle. For added connectivity, there's a variety of available features, including a display with an 8-inch touchscreen, a navigation system, satellite radio, a 12-speaker Sony® audio system, second-row USB ports, and much more.
